Yes. While you're timing, BirthTandem shows a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a Start and Stop button. You can also use the Contraction toggle in Control Center (iOS 18 and later), the Action Button, or Siri: “Start contraction in BirthTandem” and “Stop contraction in BirthTandem”.

iOS ends Live Activities after about eight hours. Open BirthTandem and it starts a fresh one, with all your contractions still there. If it never shows up, check that Live Activities are on in iOS Settings, under BirthTandem.

Tap Undo within five seconds. After that, open the list of contractions (tap the waves, or swipe up on the Timer) to change a start or end time, delete one, or add one you missed. All of it is free.

It's a rule many providers give: contractions about 5 minutes apart, each lasting about 1 minute, for 1 hour. Yours may be different, so 4-1-1, 3-1-1 and your own numbers are built in. Always use the rule your provider gave you.

Tap the rule card on the Timer, turn on the alert, and allow notifications when iOS asks. If you said no earlier, turn notifications on in iOS Settings, under BirthTandem.

With partner sync, tap Invite your partner and send them the link. They install BirthTandem and open the link. You both need to be signed in to iCloud. Either of you can then tap Start and Stop, and every tap shows up on both phones.

No. Only the person who invites needs partner sync, which is $4.99 once, and Family Sharing covers your family. Joining is always free.

Timing always works on each phone. Taps sync when you're back online.

In BirthTandem, open Settings and tap Restore purchases, on any iPhone signed in to the same Apple ID.

Any iPhone with iOS 17.2 or later. The Control Center toggle needs iOS 18. iPhones without a Dynamic Island show the Live Activity on the Lock Screen.
