Your contractions stay on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you share them with a partner. We never see them. BirthTandem has no ads, no tracking and no account.
Who we are
BirthTandem is made by Matter Development (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy, write to support@matterdevelopment.com.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your contractions: when each one started and ended, and any you edited, deleted or added.
- Your rule, your alert setting and your other settings.
- Anything you type in, such as your partner's name, or your baby's name and birth time on a keepsake.
BirthTandem keeps these in its own storage on your iPhone, which its Lock Screen Live Activity and Control Center toggle share. Your iPhone's backups include them, the same way they include other apps' data.
Sharing with your partner
If you use partner sync and invite someone, your timing session is shared through Apple's iCloud. It is stored in your iCloud account and shared only with the people you invite. We have no access to it. Apple handles it under Apple's privacy policy. You can stop sharing at any time from the Partner screen.
What we receive
We collect as little as we can, and none of it is linked to your name, your email or your Apple ID.
Anonymous usage and crash reports
BirthTandem sends anonymous events to PostHog, the analytics service we use, so we can see which features help and fix what breaks. An event says that something happened, such as “a contraction was logged from the Lock Screen”, “a summary was shared” or “the upgrade screen was opened”. Events never include when your contractions happened, how long they lasted, or your rule's numbers. They carry a random identifier made on your phone, not an advertising identifier, and we don't build a profile of you. We also receive crash reports and performance data, such as how long a screen took to open, to keep the app reliable.
Purchases
Apple processes payments, and we never see your card details. RevenueCat, the service we use to manage purchases, receives your purchase history and a random identifier made by the app, so your upgrade can be confirmed and restored.
Emails to support
If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply.
What we don't do
- No ads, inside the app or anywhere else.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites. BirthTandem never asks to track you, because it doesn't.
- We don't sell your data, or “share” it as California law uses that word, with anyone.
- No account or sign-up.
- Your contraction times and lengths are never sent to us.
Notifications
The rule-met alert is a notification your iPhone schedules by itself. It doesn't come from our servers. You can turn it off in BirthTandem's Rule sheet or in iOS Settings.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time to keep the site secure.
Your choices
- Delete everything on your iPhone: in BirthTandem, Settings, then Delete all data. Deleting the app removes it too.
- Stop sharing: on the Partner screen, Stop sharing. You can manage iCloud data in iOS Settings, under your name, then iCloud.
- Turn off the alert: in the Rule sheet, or in iOS Settings under Notifications.
- Ask us anything: email us. Because the analytics we receive aren't linked to you, we can't pick out one person's events, but we'll answer any question about what we hold.
Children
BirthTandem is made for adults expecting a baby. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
